Job Title: Qualified Estimator – Residential Remodeling
Job Type: Full-Time
Job Summary:
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for residential remodeling projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and costs, along with the ability to work closely with clients, subcontractors, and the internal team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to prepare comprehensive estimates
• Conduct site visits to gather information on labor, materials, equipment, and conditions
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids
• Prepare detailed take-offs and pricing for labor, materials, and equipment
• Work with project managers, designers, and clients to define project scope and budget
• Prepare and present professional proposals and change orders
• Track and update cost databases for future use and forecasting
• Maintain a consistent follow-up process for submitted bids
• Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality
• Assist in value engineering and project planning
Qualifications:
• Proven experience as an estimator in residential construction/remodeling (5+ years preferred)
• Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, codes, and materials
• Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Buildertrend, CoConstruct, Procore, or similar)
• Excellent math, analytical, and organizational skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and technical documents
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other relevant tools
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• High level of professionalism and integrity
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is a plus
